So, my last post was months ago. Some updates...

Senior High 1 at Sumatanga
I've really just been that busy this summer. In May, it was the winding down of the school year, and the windup to Senior High Camp 1 at Sumatanga, which went really well. I actually started my post-mortem walkthrough of the programs, but I didn't finish it. We had a great group of campers.

I can't just phone in the programs. I see each night as an event, not just a typical worship service like you'd see on any Sunday in church. And that takes a lot of planning. This year, it took a lot longer to get the programs together, and I thought that I might take a couple of years to just be a counselor again, but once we got into the week, everything came together nicely. So I've got another one in me.

Family Stuff
Here's another marker of just how busy Jamie and I both have been. Since we got back from the beach, it's been pretty much 12 hours a day 7 days a week for me, and she's been busier than usual too. We just downloaded and looked at the photos and videos from our June beach trip last night. It's been that kind of summer.

We went to San Destin this year with some friends from church, and we had a great time.

Last summer, we spent 4 nights in Gulf Shores, which just wasn't long enough. This time around it was Saturday to Saturday, a good trip.

Anna, unfortunately has become a little scared of the ocean. She doesn't like getting splashed in the face, though she loves swimming in the pool... go figure. We went to a water park in destin on the trip. I was really looking forward to riding the rides with her... but that didn't really work out.

I had been planning on she and I taking a Spring Break trip to some of the indoor water parks around the US since Jamie will have to work, but now... I'm not so sure. She's gone from being brave enough to try anything once before deciding whether or not she likes it to being a little more timid. Probably just the age she's at. I remember being scared to jump off a diving board as a kid too. I wasn't exactly a daredevil.

Home Stuff
So we're about to take the plunge and completely remodel our kitchen. We have a good sized room, but most of it is empty floor. Tomorrow morning, we'll see the 1st version of the plans our contractor has drawn up based on the feedback we gave. We've been planning on doing this for a good long while. We have the cash saved up (no debt improvements here... we're Dave Ramsey fans). I just hope that we don't have to spend all of our cash on the kitchen.... I'm ready for a new (well...slightly used) car. I know it's going to be expensive. We are gutting it completely and starting over.

Work Stuff
I think I'll do a real post-mortem on the new PDS website soon, most everything has gone smoothly, save for some problems with forms and parent passwords. The upgrade to Joomla 1.5 has been a success. I'm able to easily backup and move the site from server to development server to backup.

We looked at contracting out the site last year and quickly discovered that the costs were astronomical to accomplish a site similar to our current site.

We've pulled all of that off for the cost of a new server (got an Xserve this time, though it's still sitting there unconfigured), and about $1000 in misc. software add-ons for Joomla.

Add on to that, the opening of a a 40,000 sq ft. building and all that entails, and things get really busy.

Our new building at the school is looking fantastic. Can't believe school starts in a little over a week.

So that's it, in a nutshell... I need to blog about some other stuff... some Joomla stuff that I've learned, some great music I've been listening to (the latest Cracker album is a must-buy), and more. I'll be posting again soon.
