Bailout

Too hilarious not to post in its entirety:

REQUEST FOR URGENT BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP

DEAR AMERICAN:
I NEED TO ASK YOU TO SUPPORT AN URGENT SECRET BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP WITH A TRANSFER OF FUNDS OF GREAT MAGNITUDE.
I AM MINISTRY OF THE TREASURY OF THE REPUBLIC OF AMERICA. MY COUNTRY HAS HAD CRISIS THAT HAS CAUSED THE NEED FOR LARGE TRANSFER OF FUNDS OF 800 BILLION DOLLARS US. IF YOU WOULD ASSIST ME IN THIS TRANSFER, IT WOULD BE MOST PROFITABLE TO YOU.
I AM WORKING WITH MR. PHIL GRAM, LOBBYIST FOR UBS, WHO WILL BE MY REPLACEMENT AS MINISTRY OF THE TREASURY IN JANUARY. AS A SENATOR, YOU MAY KNOW HIM AS THE LEADER OF THE AMERICAN BANKING DEREGULATION MOVEMENT IN THE 1990S. THIS TRANSACTIN IS 100% SAFE.
THIS IS A MATTER OF GREAT URGENCY. WE NEED A BLANK CHECK. WE NEED THE FUNDS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. WE CANNOT DIRECTLY TRANSFER THESE FUNDS IN THE NAMES OF OUR CLOSE FRIENDS BECAUSE WE ARE CONSTANTLY UNDER SURVEILLANCE. MY FAMILY LAWYER ADVISED ME THAT I SHOULD LOOK FOR A RELIABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY PERSON WHO WILL ACT AS A NEXT OF KIN SO THE FUNDS CAN BE TRANSFERRED.
PLEASE REPLY WITH ALL OF YOUR BANK ACCOUNT, IRA AND COLLEGE FUND ACCOUNT NUMBERS AND THOSE OF YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN TO WALLSTREETBAILOUT@TREASURY.GOV SO THAT WE MAY TRANSFER YOUR COMMISSION FOR THIS TRANSACTION. AFTER I RECEIVE THAT INFORMATION, I WILL RESPOND WITH DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT SAFEGUARDS THAT WILL BE USED TO PROTECT THE FUNDS.
YOURS FAITHFULLY MINISTER OF TREASURY PAULSON

May you live in interesting times...
-- Ancient Chinese saying

We have interesting times in spades these days.

Via DemocracyNow:

Senator Bernie Sanders:
For years now, they’ve told us that we can’t afford — that the government providing healthcare to all people is just unimaginable; it can’t be done. We don’t have the money to rebuild our infrastructure. We don’t have the money to wipe out poverty. We can’t do it. But all of a sudden, yeah, we do have $700 billion for a bailout of Wall Street.

An excellent point. I guess this is also their plan for when the baby boomers really start to kill us on the Social Security and Medicare. Just print more money.

And one poll shows that only 7% of Americans favor the terms of the bailout they're trying to rush through Congress.

Even though I had been hearing about a coming crisis for the last couple of years through listening to what Ron Paul and others were saying about the way we run our economy, I didn't think I'd see the crisis quite this soon. And now, these same folks are warning us about the crash of the dollar if we don't stop and allow the market to correct itself. It's getting scary.

And the same folks who didn't see this coming are still saying that our economy is not in a recession (or worse.) I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan. He has great stuff to say about personal finance, but on the economics of the country, I'm just not sure that I buy into what he's saying about us not being in a recession. The entire financial sector is on the verge of collapse, yet we're not in a recession? Apparently the problem comes down to the Net Worth argument.

Americans have record low amounts of Savings (lowest since 1933) - but that’s supposed to be alright because they bought a house three years ago, which has doubled in ‘market value’, so the acquired equity represents Net Worth. As we are currently witnessing, Net Worth based on home equity is dropping sharply. Likewise, paper asset values such as stocks and investments will also drop, because they are based on a maintained global market ‘faith based’ value of the U.S. Dollar.

Most people just don't get that this is the way they're taxing us through the back door to pay for a lot of this stuff. By printing more money, they make the money that you have in your savings account having less buying power, taxing you without you even realizing it.
