GrandCentral + ConquerClub
According to DownloadSquad, Google has just acquired GrandCentral, a Web 2.0 site that I was unfamiliar with, but am loving the concept of. It's a (currently, and hopefully continually free now that Google has bought it) phone service where you sign up and get a free local phone number. My new number is 901-457-1134. Via the website you enter in your other numbers and then when someone calls that new number, all of the phones you have entered will ring. You can customize a bunch of stuff like set up groups and route callers from those groups only to certain phones, etc. You then have a web-based voicemail set-up too. You can have it email you about voicemail or send you a text message. Very cool.
Back when I was in college, several of us used to get together to play Risk at the Wesley Foundation. Good times... those times are back with ConquerClub, an online Risk clone where you have 24 hours to take your turn, allowing you to play for just a few minutes a day. If everyone is available to play, each round can go much faster than 24 hours, but you'll always have at least that long. The site is kind of Web 1.0, but it's still fun. With some Ajax and other Web 2.0 tech, it could really rock. Let me know if you want me to send you an invite. I have several college/camp friends who are playing.
